METHODOLOGY OBJECTIVE: The purpose of our program is to develop students' potential through the extraordinary period of facilitation that they are experiencing to easily assimilate languages.
METHOD: Students are classified according to their levels of proficiency in the language, which helps teachers focus on each child's specific needs for optimal progress.
We develop multiple competencies such as listening comprehension, reading comprehension, oral expression, written expression and cultural awareness in students, based on their age and grade level expectations, and in accordance with the latest STANDARDS FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING in America and the European Union. We work with the top publishers in the United States and abroad, to ensure the highest standards as well as state approved curricula.
According to the age and level taught, we use a communicative method that includes strategies based on:
The Natural Approach (fosters spontaneous, non-threatening and meaningful communication among students).
The Total Physical Response Approach (promotes the use of non- verbal communication).
The Spiral Approach (keeps utilizing the fundamentals of the language along with periodical introduction of new elements).
The Multi-Sensory Approach (stimulating multiple intelligences).
Languages involve numerous linguistic components that we introduce to learners in immersion classes. Learners express themselves verbally in practical, real-life situations. A repeated exposure to the language in a carefully planned variety of themes and contexts lead to natural acquisition of the skills. Interaction awakens students' abilities and keeps them building up the language as they find themselves engaged at all times in individual and collaborative learning.
One of our priorities is to provides opportunities to shine for every student as we develop activities that explore the various learning styles.
We purposely establish cross-curriculum connections, which reinforce or complement the learning of other disciplines. Beyond teaching students how to express themselves in a foreign language, the cultural content of our courses stimulates critical thinking and instills human values.
Learners discover their abilities while having fun through exciting activities adapted to their age. A long-term interest takes roots as we stimulate their curiosity. The new language becomes part of their life and culture.
STRATEGY:
Development of comprehension skills through audio, dialogues, mimes, dramatizations, fiction and non-fiction reading, songs, story telling, story interpretation, description of visuals, etc.
Explicit introduction of grammar, vocabulary and phonetics with the help of didactic technologies.
Implicit acquisition of new skills by reusing them in engaging tasks based on age-level and interest: written composition, presentations, monologues, hands-on activities, role playing, discussions, games, songs, mimes, crafts, readings, and more.
The skill level of the activities, conducted in the target language, is gradually increased to challenge students’ competency.
